Justin Fortune is an artist based in Jamaica, NY. Justin grew up on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago and was pushed at a very young age by art teachers who recognized his talent to continue pursuing his career in the arts as years went by. He later landed an academic scholarship to the Savannah college of Art and Design, where he earned his degree in Animation with a specialization in 3D modeling. One of Fortune’s professors introduced him to painting and after that his path was forged. After graduating he moved to Los Angeles where he went on freelancing as an independent painter for the next 6 years building a clientele which would support his lifestyle to continue practicing and honing his skills in the field of painting. Mainly a portrait artist, Fortune is currently working in the medium of oils. His paintings are a contemporary take on classical painting techniques applied to modern themes, subjects and concepts. His work is greatly inspired by the baroque & rococo art movements and He is considered a Genre painter whose scenes are both realistic and romanticized. His paintings have been featured in several group exhibitions in Los Angeles and Atlanta.
